Join upstate SC DSA

To become of member of our local chapter you must first become a member of the national organization. There are two ways to join the national Democratic Socialist of America either as a dues paying member or as a dues waived member. Both provide full membership.

national membership

National dues help fund the work of the national project, with roughly 20% of monthly dues being allocated back to our local chapter. Our chapter is still in the Organizing Committee stage and thus is not receiving dues shares but we have completed all the required steps and have applied for chartered chapter status.

Local membership

Now that you are a member of the national organization you just need to make sure that you have been assigned to the Upstate SC chapter.

confirming your chapter status

Confirming your status is a two step process. If you are confirming your membership for the first time you will need to opt in to the DSA Discussion Forum. This will confirm your DSA membership and give you access to member-only resources.

Now you will be able to check your chapter status by going to https://proof.dsausa.org/. If you login with the email you made your DSA membership with you will be shown a virtual DSA membership card. If you are a member of our chapter the card will read “Chapter: Upstate South Carolina”. If the card reads “Chapter: At-large” you will need to change your chapter.

Changing your chapter

Members can change their chapter online using the request to change your chapter form.
