our campaigns
The national Campaign
The national DSA has announced our new program called “Workers Deserve More”. The program includes a description of the things that the DSA stands for including healthcare and housing for all, ending the legacies of slavery and colonialism, ending mass incarceration, feminist and queer liberation, combating climate change, workplace democracy, and more.
The campaign also provides a high level overview of how the DSA plans to achieve these lofty goals. We have a lot of work to do to make these claims reality so if any of those resonate with you join the DSA and get organized.
For a more in depth look you can check out the full “Workers Deserve More” program.
The local campaign
Upstate DSA also has our own local campaign called “ICE OUT”. The goal of the ICE OUT campaign is to get ICE out of communities across the Upstate. The ICE OUT campaign was decided on and is organized by regular people just like you.
So far the focus of our campaign has been focused on removing 287(g) agreements in Greenville and Spartanburg. What is 287(g)? It is an agreement that allows local law enforcement to collaborate with and act as proxy for ICE agents. 287(g) agreements exist in counties across the Upstate and across South Carolina.
While our focus has been on 287(g) we are also working to organize around the removal of Flock and other ALPR cameras from our communities. These cameras are used to track and spy on all of us but are especially dangerous for brown, black, and immigrant workers who are targeted by ICE.
Once again these are not easy goals to acheive and we need your help to make it happen. Everyone has a role they can fill to help achieve these goals regardless of organizing experience. Join us to get ICE OUT of the Upstate.
